Prep Ingredients
You’ll begin by shredding your green cabbage, slicing up your yellow onion, and roughly chopping your fresh garlic. You may cut up the cabbage on a cutting board or use a shredder. Either way, your cabbage should be chopped up into fairly thin shreds. Keep in mind that the cabbage shreds will shrink a bit during the cooking process.
Prepare Impossible Sausage
Next, you’ll thaw your Impossible Italian Sausage links and cut in 1/2’ slices horizontally. Heat a little bit of oil in a large skillet (cast iron works phenomenally in this recipe). Once hot, place Impossible Sausage coins into the pan and cook on each side until slightly browned and cooked through. This should be about 5-10 minutes.
Cook Cabbage
Remove cooked Impossible Sausage and add more oil to the skillet - don’t be shy. Once hot, you’ll add diced yellow onion and chopped garlic, before lowering heat to medium. Cook until fragrant and translucent, then add shredded cabbage. Continue cooking until tender and wilted, stirring frequently. Add your seasonings and that’s it!
Serve
Finally, add Impossible Sausage back to the skillet and mix with the cooked cabbage and onion. You can enjoy this flavorful dish as a side or main course! This recipe is also great for meal prep. Store in the refrigerator for up to 4-5 days for delectable weeknight leftovers.
