How to make chocolate peppermint oats

Begin by brewing one cup of peppermint tea. Boil your water and then add 1-2 bags of peppermint tea. Allow to seep for a few minutes.

In a saucepan, combine the brewed peppermint tea with plant based milk, cacao powder and additional peppermint flavoring if desired. Bring this mixture to a gentle boil.

Once boiling, add your oats and reduce the pot to a low heat. Cover and stir the oats occasionally for roughly 15 minutes, or until the oats are tender and chewy looking.

Remove the saucepan from heat and allow to sit covered for 5 minutes. Once cooled, serve your chocolate peppermint oats with fresh berries, plant-based whipped cream, and maple syrup.

Equipment

  • Measuring cups

  • Small/Medium Saucepan

Ingredients  

  • 1 1/2 cups old-fashioned oats

  • 1 cup peppermint tea

  • 1 cup sweetened plant milk

  • 1/4 cup cacao powder or cocoa powder

  • 1/4 cup maple syrup

  • 1 tsp peppermint flavor or extract

Toppings

  • 1 handful fresh berries

  • 2 tbsp plant-based whipped cream

  • 1 tbsp maple syrup

Instructions 

  1. Brew one cup of peppermint tea by seeping 1-2 peppermint tea bags in water.

  2. In saucepan, combine peppermint tea, plant milk, cacao powder, and peppermint flavoring. Bring to a gentle boil.

  3. Add in oats and reduce to low heat. Cover and stir occasionally for about 15 minutes or until oats are tender and chewy.

  4. Remove from heat and allow to sit, covered for 5 minutes.

  5. Top with fresh berries, plant-based whipped cream, and maple syrup. Enjoy!
