Repurpose Your Herbs w/ Creamy Vegan Cilantro Sauce

If you’re like me, and find it difficult to use all of your herbs before they begin to go bad, this recipe is for you! Creamy vegan cilantro sauce is an excellent way to extend the life of excess cilantro in your refrigerator. This recipe is simple, easy, and effortless, taking only 5 minutes to make. This sauce can also be frozen for future meals!

How to Make Creamy Vegan Cilantro Sauce

Making this easy vegan sauce is incredibly simple, requiring only a handful of ingredients and minimal kitchen equipment. All you’ll need are some measuring cups and a high speed blender. In just minutes, you’ll have the best multi-purpose cilantro sauce to use on a multitude of meals! This cilantro sauce can be stored in the fridge for up to a week.

  • Silken tofu is a protein-packed, vegan substitute for a creamy component like sour cream or Greek yogurt. Silken tofu is mild, and nearly flavorless, providing the perfect base for this sauce. Firm tofu would not work well in this recipe.

  • Use unsweetened, plain plant milk. Many plant-based milks have subtle hints of vanilla or faux milk flavors - try and steer clear of these ones. Choose a simple, dairy-free milk that doesn’t have a prominent flavor, like homemade almond milk, or store-bought Three Trees Oat & Seed. In a pinch, try skipping the milk all together. The result will be a bit thicker, but still delicious nonetheless!

  • If you find yourself out of fresh lime juice, I’ve personally experimented with lemon juice as a substitute and it worked well.

  • What’s a recipe without garlic? Fresh garlic brings the most authentic flavor, but can be substituted for garlic powder.
