Cinnamon Granola
Homemade Granola vs. Storebought
Some mornings, I’ll only have time for pre-packaged granola. But when I do have more space in my day, I love to make breakfast from scratch!
Although pre-packaged granola is often convenient, it is also quite costly, especially if you’re purchasing natural or organic brands with minimal additives and other unnecessary ingredients. Thankfully, making your own granola at home is cost-efficient, easy and even fun to make!
5 Simple Ingredients
This minimalist recipe requires only 5 ingredients! Many of these ingredients you probably already have on hand, but if not, they can all be found at nearly any local grocery store.
All you will need for this recipe are:
Old-fashioned/rolled oats
Nut butter (I used peanut butter)
Maple syrup
Cinnamon
Coconut oil
Oil-Free Cinnamon Granola
To make an oil-free version of this recipe, simply omit the coconut oil. This will not affect the taste or quality of your granola. If you do eliminate the oil, however, I emphasize the importance of using parchment paper or a silicone baking mat to prevent sticking and burning.

Equipment
Oven
Large mixing bowl
Measuring cups
Ingredients
3 c old fashioned oats
3/4 c nut butter
1/2 c maple syrup
2 tbsp cinnamon adjust accordingly
1 tbsp coconut oil optional – omit if oil-free
Instructions
Preheat oven to 375°F.
Mix all ingredients in a large mixing bowl until thoroughly combined.
Line baking pan with parchment paper or silicone baking mat. Spread oat mixture across the pan, gently pressing down to form an even layer.
Place in the oven for 15-20 minutes, or until granola is browned and crunchy.
Notes
Parchment paper or silicone baking mats are essential to prevent the granola from burning. This is especially important if using an oil-free version. Adjust cinnamon accordingly, depending on how much flavor you want in your granola. Add more for an intense, more flavorful taste, or dial it back for a subtler sweetness. Try adding vanilla or almond extract for a sweeter hint of flavor.
