Our Favorite Drugstore Vegan Beauty Products

Drugstore Vegan Beauty Products, make-up brushes - Plant-Based Pals Blog

When you go grocery shopping, do you make a list or select items in the moment? We believe it pays to plan ahead, so we created a list of vegan beauty products to serve as a guide.

In this list, we’ll recommend our favorite…

  • Deodorant

  • Body soap

  • Make-up items

  • Target finds

ARM & HAMMER Essentials natural deodorant

Long have I been on the hunt for a natural, vegan deodorant that I really enjoyed and worked well for me.  Some of the brands I’ve tried before were Schmidt’s and Everyone.  These did not work for me, unfortunately, because of inefficiency and rough textures causing skin irritation.

I did not have much luck with natural, vegan deodorants until I tried ARM & HAMMER Essentials natural deodorant. I was attracted to its citrus scent and smooth texture, and I’m glad that I decided to give it a go.  It smells amazing and glides on my skin without causing redness or irritation.  And most importantly, it works.

If you’re looking for a cheap, but quality, natural vegan deodorant at your local department store, I highly recommend being on the look out for ARM & HAMMER Essentials.

Dove soap

As of recent, Dove has banned all animal testing on their products.  They were even added to PETA’s cruelty-free list to make it official!

I love using Dove because the formula feels great on my skin, and the ingredients leave my skin feeling soft and clean after every shower.  Dove soap also has soft, pleasant scents, that are not too overwhelming or perfume-y.  This brand has been around for a long time and has maintained a good reputation, and I trust Dove’s growth, progress, and expertise over the years in making quality, cruelty-free vegan beauty products.

Makeup & Brushes

Unfortunately, a lot of big-name cosmetic companies like L’Oreal, Maybelline, Revlon, and Rimmel London all test on animals, making them non-vegan nor cruelty-free.  Even many high end makeup brands like MAC and Clinique test their products on animals.

If you’re looking for an accessible, vegan makeup brand, ELF Cosmetics is inexpensive and does not test on animals.  For the extremely low prices of their products, they perform just as well as many other higher-priced makeup brands, and they do not sacrifice the lives of innocent animals in the process.

Physician’s Formula, Hard Candy, NYX Professional Makeup, and Milani are some of the other cruelty-free makeup brands that you can find at a local department store or drugstore.

For vegan makeup brushes, Eco Tools brushes are a great purchase to ensure that your makeup utensils are free of all animal fur.  Many brands do this, so it is important to keep an eye out.

Target finds

Target carries a lot of vegan, cruely-free beauty and makeup brands that other departments do not.  Some of these brands include Yes to, Dr. Bronner’s, Love Beauty and Planet, and Pixi

Yes to provides a wide variety of different beauty products, from cleansers to moisturizers, to masks, and anti-aging serums.  This vegan brand is dedicated to using natural and safe ingredients, while priding itself on its cruelty-free practices.  Yes to is high quality and amazing, and won’t break your bank either.  Knowing that I’m not putting harmful chemicals on my skin or contributing to violence against animals gives me confidence in my decision to continue using this brand.

Love Beauty and Planet is another incredible vegan beauty brand that can be found at Target.  They offer a vast selection of skin and hair care products, all vegan and cruelty-free.  This company is not only very conscious about their choice of ingredients, but also extremely environmentally conscious, as they are dedicated to reducing their own carbon footprint while donating to funds that help reduce carbon emissions and save the environment.  They use 100% recycled materials and natural, sustainable ingredients to make their products.  In efforts to save water, Love Beauty and Planet even modified their shampoos and conditioners so that the formula breaks down faster when rinsing it off your hair in the shower, cutting down shower time water usage for everybody who uses these products.  All in all, you really can’t go wrong here.

When shopping in the drugstore for vegan beauty products, we hope this list can guide your choices and make your journey a bit easier. We love to learn from our community, so please comment your favorite finds below!
